Apple Pie

Apple Pie
  • 6-8 large apples
  • ¾ to 1 cup sugar, depending on taste
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • Pastry for double crust pie
  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Halve, core and peel apples. Slice about ¼ inch thick into a bowl. Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice and a dash of kosher salt. Mix in bowl and let stand for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Place into crust, dot with butter. Cover with top layer of crust and seal the edge, trim and crimp or flute. Cut heat vents.
  3. Turn oven down to 350° and bake for about 1 hour. Place foil over the top if the top starts to brown too quickly.
