CSA Box: 11/23/2013 – Idared Apples & More

CSA Members will enjoy in their CSA boxes this week…..

Honeycrisp Apples
Appearance:  Red blushed, with a creamy yellow background color
Flavor Profile:  Blended sweet-tart flavor.  Exceptionally juicy and crunchy.  Our most popular apple.
Uses:  Honeycrisp is best eaten fresh out of hand, or chopped for salads.  Some of our customers enjoy adding a Honeycrisp apple to a pie for a little bit of natural sweetness. 

Idared Apples
 Brassy red and orange colored apple.
Flavor Profile:  Tangy flavor with spongy texture when fresh, but flavor mellows and richens when baked.
Uses:  Best for baking:  flesh will soften and have a fine grained texture.  Does not hold shape.
